BAG-IT

I was sitting in the shop that day, wondering how I could get all those Xmas presents, my wife's stuff, my son's stuff and my bags all the way to the East coast, and still be able to take a full set-up home for the holidays to play with.

Well, it dawned on me that it would all have to fit in one over the shoulder bag. That's the only way for it to be really convenient. That meant a 4 piece mast that I made from a two piece and a boom that was easy to break down.

The pictures you see here were taken upon my return from the millennium holidays to the East coast. I'm glad I talked my wife into this one because the wind was great and I got a lot of Streetsailing in during those 2 weeks back east, not to mention the Y2K Flu.

A few things to note. Every part I needed did fit into one of our custom made Streetsailor Travel bags. I actually threw in a small kite so that I could kiteboard if the wind was right.

The sail was a 4.5 that had the middle 2 battens shortened and then was folded over a foot or so from the clew  to fit the length of the bag. The tires were deflated for extra room. The only tools needed were an adjustable wrench for the truck mounting and wheels, and a screwdriver for the boom. I was ready to ride in about 15 minutes.

The bag went on the plane like regular luggage. Actually, everyone thought it was a golf bag.
